Quite often older properties
updated the bathroom and
installed a shower, either over
an existing bath or on one of
the walls where a bath used
to be. This is a sensible
move
but it can be made even
better by adding bathroom
shower lights that will
specifically illuminate the
shower area.
All too often the lighting in a
bathroom is served by a
central ceiling light, which
offers terrific illumination but
to have one directly above a
shower is practical and
luxurious. It may cause
shower users to linger in
there a little longer than they
should or it might quicken
them up if they can see
exactly what and where has
been lathered and drenched
clear.
There are considerations in
the UK and you should look
out for shower lights that are
IP65 rated. The
housing of a shower light
needs to be completely
moisture sealed and recessed
into the ceiling above the
shower. This ensures safety
and means that the lights
should be suitable for all
zones in a house – 1, 2 and 3.
Installing a shower light in an
en suite or in an existing
bathroom will instantly update
it and make it seem much
more ‘spa’ like and inviting. It
will also mean you will be able
to see into all the corners
when you are cleaning so that
it always looks its best and is
hygienic for use – even after
washing down the dogs from
a particularly muddy walk, or
a child who has discovered
the joys of rolling in dirt . . .
these things happen.
