Patio Wall Lights Create a Relaxing Outside Space
It is said so often that it’s become a cliché, but its true – lighting your patio is like adding an extra room to your home, and that’s true even if you just put up a patio wall light or two.
If you’re not into the whole illuminated garden thing, it’s still a good idea to put up some garden wall lights for security and safety and that’s just as true of the patio as of anywhere else in the garden.
A well placed patio wall light will prevent bruised shins from stumbling against garden furniture and broken ankles from missing the top of the steps. Additionally, as the patio is most often close to the back door, a patio wall light will be an important part of your home security system.
You want something that is durable, after all, you don’t want to have to deal with rust and breakages every five minutes, so for something like stainless steel or wrought iron. Even fibre glass ‘wrought iron’ is surprisingly durable and can deal with all the elements Britain throws at it.
A few tips to ease the way:
• Install lighting above eye level – sitting with a wall light shining into your eyes all evening isn’t pleasant
• Use a timer. They’re easy to install and mean that you don’t have to remember to turn lights on and off
• Place wall lamps or other types of light fitting anywhere there is a hazard, so by steps, changes in level, and water features
• Think about brick lights, which look beautiful and increase safety
You know, clichés are clichés for a reason – because they are either true or because they encapsulate what we want to say. It is without apology, then, that we say you should seriously consider installing patio wall lights to add extra space to your home.
