Blissful Bathroom Lighting

Bathroom lighting needs to be flexible enough to show you in a good light in the morning, give you enough light so that you can shave or put on your make up, and allow you to relax in your bath. Above all else, it needs to be safe. That’s a tall order, don’t you think?

Actually, it’s not such a tall order if you think things through. For instance you can combine the need to look good and have adequate light for grooming with bathroom mirror lighting. Good task lighting has to be direct and shadowless, which is exactly what you get from bathroom mirror lights. Halogen bathroom mirror lighting is very close to natural daylight, and very flattering to skin tones. If you want to see yourself, warts and all, then choose a bathroom mirror that is illuminated with compact fluorescent tubes. Fluorescent lamps allow you to see your skin in an almost clinical light; sometimes that is exactly what you need.

For everyday, ambient lighting, the traditional way to light a bathroom is with ceiling lighting; in a small bathroom this may be all you need. However, in larger rooms ceiling lights can cast unflattering shadows, something that is easily overcome by the addition of low voltage bathroom downlights and/or wall lights.

Safety is of prime importance, so you should ensure that all your bathroom lighting and electrical equipment conforms to the bathroom lighting zones.

We have blissful bathroom lighting wrapped up – go take a look.
