LED Kitchen Lighting: The light bulb has been broken!
Thomas Edison gave us the light bulb exactly 130 years ago and, in all that time, it has been indispensable; then along came the LED and the incandescent bulb was dethroned. Okay, perhaps that sounds a bit over-dramatic but, you know, it’s perfectly true; compare LED kitchen lighting with traditional or fluorescent kitchen lighting and see which you prefer!
Remember those cheap plastic LED watches of the early 1960′s? Well they were the forerunner of today’s bright, crisp white LED lighting. Once the scientists learnt how to produce white LED instead of red, orange, and yellow, the die was cast. And your kitchen lighting is better because of it.
LED strips are brilliant used for both task lighting and accent lighting place them below wall cabinets for work surface task lighting and above wall cabinets for accent lighting. You could also put LED strips on the plinth of floor cabinets for some rather funky accent lighting. Don’t forget that with the LED colour came first, which means that you can get LED strips in a variety of colours, one of which is bound to compliment your kitchen decor.
A particularly stylish kitchen lighting scheme uses LEDs for accent and task lighting, with halogen kitchen lighting providing the indirect, ambient light.
