Touch Table Lamps: Where’s the Switch!
Ask your granny to turn on your touch table lamp and don’t be surprised when she wonders where the switch is! She’s not the first and she won’t be the last to ask ‘where’s the switch?’
Touch sensitive lamps are a marvel of modern technology; far more than just another labour saving device. Look at any of the traditional switches in your home and you will see that, no matter how diligently you do the housework, the crevices are grimed with greasy black grime.
This is an inevitable result of years of use; natural body oils in your fingertips combine with dust in the air and the result is sticky switches. There is no such problem with smooth touch sensitive plates.
Not all table lamps come with touch sensitive pads, but very many do and not just contemporary table lamps have this facility, traditional table lamps do too.
It might be worth getting a touch table lamp just to enjoy the confusion on granny’s face!
