Verdigris is the effect on unfinished copper once it has been exposed to the elements over time. It is a perfectly natural process where the deposits form a patina on the outside of the weathered copper. This effect is adored by some and loathed by others who prefer the warm sheen rather than the distinctive green of the phenomenon. Copper lamp posts will be absolutely the best choice in a an environment that already possesses copper elements in its construction.

Copper is highly reflective and when used in lighting can provide an extra glow in the illumination from the lantern tops. Any other items that have copper trim will naturally partner these lights and add cohesion to an overall look you may wish to achieve in your exterior décor. Some designs of lighting take advantage of copper’s attractive finish and use it for the lantern at the top of the lights only; others will use the material throughout to include the column and the base.

Copper is a versatile and precious metal that has many applications. It is in popular demand and can be pricey depending on the world markets. There is no denying its distinctive appearance is attractive and appealing. It is best used in conjunction with metals from the same family such as bronze or brass but it also works well in natural surroundings because of the autumnal tones in its sheen. As such, it is perfect for any garden where a sophisticated lighting solution is desired for effect, impact and practicality.
