LED Garden lights can show
that our gardens have more
exterior elements to them
than we realise. There are
pathways, driveways, walls,
fences and lawns, courtyards,
soil, gravel, bricks, stone and
concrete. There are low,
medium and high levels that
could benefit from outdoor
lighting and really bring to life
the hidden beauty these
inanimate objects possess.
Low flat surfaces could accept
recessed lights to illuminate
their surface or floodlights
and spike lights to throw a
huge beam over the area and
bathe it in a wash of light.
Wall lights along vertical
surfaces can make even the
plainest brick or stone seem
special. Think of some studies
of industrial photographs,
when you see close-up detail
of machinery and buildings
they become quite amazing.
On top of walls you could
have lamps or lanterns to
delineate property boundaries
and provide security and
along pathways, bollard
lighting ranging from knee
height to hip height could light
the way in sleek posts. Where
you have steps it is always a
good idea to provide light for
the area, just as it is at a
porch or the entrance
threshold of a
property.
Where there are opportunities
to set lights higher so they
beam down on the scene
below, wall mounted lights
and angled flood lights are
terrific. Features like signage,
architectural plants, trees,
statues, follies, gazebos and
fountains could all look
spectacular depending on the
effect you create. Check out
how to recreate moonlight or
silhouettes and shadows to
bring more drama to your
outdoor property when it is
illuminated at night. There’s
plenty you can do. |
