Designs for bulkhead lights,
that somehow always used to
look ‘institutional’, have come
right up to date with a variety
of styles that might surprise
you. Not only is there a great
range of shapes now but
some models in the UK come
with an integral sensor, a PIR
(Pyroelectric/Passive
InfraRed) motion detector.
This addition to the
performance function of
bulkhead lights makes them
exceptionally popular for
domestic and commercial
purposes.
It might be possible to
purchase a stand-alone
sensor to be activated by
movement that will augment
your choice of bulkhead
lights. These are
competitively priced and
afford wonderful security
lighting at a low cost. Many
people install a bulkhead light
on a porch wall to provide
illumination at the doorway,
which of course makes very
good sense. Mounted in the
recess beside a front door
you can be assured of being
able to identify callers as
welcome or not. Near a
garage would also be a good
location for bulkhead lights
that could be fitted above the
door or to the side depending
on your preference.
The selection currently
available has enough variety
to appeal to modern and
traditional properties with
contemporary and classic
designs to suit the styles of
either type. Wherever you
mount your bulkhead lights do
remember to keep the area
clear of any overgrowing
branches where the foliage
might obscure the light or
movement would set it off
unnecessarily as that would
defeat the purpose of its
position and your property
would not benefit from it. |
