Porch light Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can The Porch Lights
With Chains Have The Chain
Made Shorter?
Yes. Your electrician will be
able to take links out of the
chain to make the porch light
the required drop. The
electrical
cable will also need to be
shortened.
Our range of porch lights
come with enough chain for
most applications but if you
require longer lengths then
contact us.
Can I Use Energy Saver
Light Bulbs In My Porch Light?
Yes. We recommend the use
of energy saver light bulbs, all
of our porch lights use an ES
(E27) screw cap fitting. The
table
below shows the equivalent
energy saver light bulb
wattage compared to
standard incandescent light
bulb wattages.

Do You Supply Any Porch
Lights With Built In Movement
Sensors?
No we don’t supply any porch
lights with a built in PIR
sensor. See
below:
Can I Add A PIR
Movement Sensor To My
Porch Light?
Yes. We supply a stand alone
PIR movement sensor that fits
on the wall and connects via a
cable to the porch light.
Consult
your electrician for best
positioning of the PIR
movement sensor.
Can I Add A Dusk Till
Dawn Sensor To My Porch
Light?
Yes. We supply a stand alone
dusk till dawn sensor that
mounts on the wall in the
same way that a PIR
movement sensor does.
We do not supply any porch
lights with these sensors built
in as porch lights are normally
located in or around a porch
where
light levels are poor. This
would mean that a built in
dusk till dawn sensor would
activate the light at all hours
of the day
particularly on a cloudy day.
Do Porch Lights Require
Any Maintenance?
A small amount of
maintenance will keep your
porch light in tip top condition
for many years, the
occasional bulb replaced
and given a wipe over to get
rid of any surface dust. The
only porch lights in our range
that require a little more
maintenance are the stainless
steel type. We recommend
that these porch lights are
given an occasional rub over
with cooking
oil or similar lubricant, this will
ensure that the stainless steel
stays bright giving it a water
resistant
coating.
Can I Fit My Porch Light
Myself?
Yes you can certainly do the
time consuming bit of fixing
the porch light to the wall or
ceiling. We however do advise
that
any electrical work is carried
out by and NIC registered
electrician.
Can We Supply
Replacement Glass Parts
Should They Get Broken?
Yes we can our range of
porch lights have spare glass
shades available to purchase.
Do You Supply Any Porch
Lights For Exposed Coastal
Areas?
Yes. We supply the Glenbeigh
range of porch lights that are
manufactured from a tough
polycarbonate. These are
specifically
made for coastal areas and
the battering they can take
from salt and rough weather
conditions.
Nothing says “welcome to our
home” like carefully selected
porch lights. Whether you
choose a
hanging porch
light,
a
chain porch
light light or one of
the other great styles you will
welcome friends and family in
just the right way. Porch
lamps are a great way to say
something about your tastes
but they also give the home a
classic touch without great
cost.
As you plan your outdoor
lighting be sure to give some
thought to the porch lights
you choose. Illuminate your
entrance for safety and for
efficiency (such as when you
are searching for keys). Add
motion sensors
or remote
switches for convenience and
safety. This type of outside
light can be combined with
sensors so that they come on
when someone approaches
your home.
Porch lights come in a variety
of styles, from
Norfolk black
and
Hereford black
to
Baltimore black
and classic
bronze. Use these beautiful
designs to welcome visitors,
without making the light too
bright and uncomfortable.
Illuminate the porch for those
great summer evenings when
you are visiting with friends or
family members.
With the right design, porch
lights can recreate a classic
atmosphere, transporting
visitors back to a more slow-
paced time. Some designs
bring the look and feel of old-
fashioned lamps to your home
while providing the modern
convenience of sensor-
controlled lighting. Quality
outdoor lamps are
manufactured to last through
the change of seasons.
Choose your porch lights to fit
with the design of your home.
Lighting is available that will
fit perfectly with your rustic
style or will add a touch of old-
world class to your modern
home. |
